How to easily and fast put a Sitemap on to your WordPress Blog.

Quick note for those of you who are new to blogging a sitemap is a map of your blog.
It’s like the Contents page of a book.

To put all the links to all the posts and page of your blog manually on to one page would be quite a lot of work.
Luckily Dagon Design has created a plug in ( an add on) for worpress blogs that once installed does this automatically for you.

Installing and configuring this plug is is fairly simple:

1. Go to the plugins section on your dashboard
2. Go to add new
3. Type Dagon Design Sitemap Generator into the searchbox
4. Then chose the DDSitemapGen click install and activate.
5. Now under settings on your dashboard you will find DDsitemapgen amongst all your other plugins.
6. Click on DDSitemapGen to configure.
7. All you have to to is enter Sitemap in the field where it asks you for the site map page slug.

8. Next you need to create a new page

9. Title the page Sitemap with capital S
10. Choose the HTML editor mode

11. Copy this piece of code:

in the body of the page.

Save the page and you are done!

Wasn’t that nice and simple?
You had to work only this one time and from now on this plug in does it for you.

This is why I love wordpress.

Moving the wp-db manager file when getting the message your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public:

To move the folder

1. Connect with your FTP client to your website
2. Go to the public_html folder double left click on it
3.Go to the wp-content folder
4. Go to plugins
5. Scroll down to wp-db manager double click on it
6. Find file named htaccess.txt, right click on it and download it
7. Delete file from the wp-db manager folder
8. Go back to wp-content folder
9.Go to backup-db
10. Upload the htaccess.txt from your desktop into the backup-db folder
11. High-light and right click on the htaccess.txt file and click rename
12.Un-high light it hit back space to delete the .txt and rename to .htaccess
13. Check you wp-dashboard, the message about your back up folder being visible to the public should be gone.

P.S. You did exactly what it told you to do, you moved the .htaccess file from wp-content-plugins-wp-dbmanager to home/yourdomain/public_html/wp-content/backup-db

Today on the open coaching call I got asked from Lottie Jenvey  (85 year old Internet Marketer!) how she can put more then one picture in a squidoo text modul.  Here is how you can do it:

First you have to host your pictures somewhere online simplest and easiest way is to do it through flickr.

Next step is to open squidoo go to your lens and the text modul you want to put pictures in.

The HTML code to put a picture where ever you want in your text is:

<img src=”url of the image you want to display”/>

Now if you want the picture placed at the right margin you use:
<img src=”url of the image you want to display” align=”right”/>

To align it left:

<img src=”url of the image you want to display” align=”left”/>

To align it center:

<img src=”url of the image you want to display” align=”center”/>

You can also re-size your pictures by telling the code the dimensions you want for example:

<img src=”url of the image you want to display” height=”150px” width=”500px”/
